Bill King and team recently launched launched PPMLite (still in beta). It's a project portfolio management application that can stand-alone or import Basecamp projects and Microsoft Project files. Bill tells us more below.

PPMLite Background
PPMLite began out of frustration from weekly project reporting firedrills in our corporate jobs. Using spreadsheets, email, and phone calls to pull together the data from dozens of projects was difficult and incredibly inefficient. In looking for a solution, we found a big gap between having nothing and expensive, complex and IT-centric solutions. PPMLite was created to fill that gap and bring the power of project portfolio management to business and IT users alike.
Along the way we stumbled upon 37 Signals’ Basecamp and Highrise and started using them both for PPMLite.

Easily import your Basecamp projects into PPMLite using a step-by-step wizard. PPMLite imports your Basecamp project names, milestones, and resources to create an intuitive Dashboard and quickly enable you to run cross-project reports. Key features include:
- Mouse-over the Dashboard Gantt chart and quickly see project details
- Cross-project reporting on Status, Milestones, Resources, Efficiency, Clients, and Strategic Drivers

Flexibility
PPMLite was designed to simplify project portfolio management. We’ve also made it easy to customize so PPMLite adapts to the way you work. For example, choose which project fields (attributes) to use and whether or not they are required. PPMLite also supports parent-child project relationships.
