Today we announce a new Basecamp feature called the image-grid view. The image-grid view allows you to browse images (GIF, JPG, or PNG) uploaded to a project in a visual grid (3 across). The images are thumbnailed to 200x200 so they are big enough to browse but not too big that you can't see many of them at once.
Here's what it looks like
To get to this view simply click the Files tab inside a project. Then click the "Image-grid view" filter on the right side of the light blue bar header.
Important notes
This feature only works for accounts set up with Basecamp File Hosting. This is almost everyone. But if your account uses your own FTP server for storage then this feature won't be available. You can switch to Basecamp File Hosting by clicking the Settings tab on the Dashboard then clicking the "File Upload Settings" link.
Secondly, this feature only works for images uploaded after May 2007. Before May 2007 we didn't auto-generate thumbnails for images. Also, some of your older thumbnails may appear stretched. The old thumbnail size was 100x100, but we've changed this to 200x200. All future images will be thumbnailed at 200x200.
We hope you find the image-grid view useful
We really hope you find this new view useful. Thanks for your continued support and enjoy Basecamp!
